Di Lorenzo — React Native Fitness App I Built in Sydney

I am Muhammad Adil in Sydney. Di Lorenzo / My Fit Spot is the React Native fitness product I led end-to-end — Expo mobile, API, Stripe and trainer CMS — same hands as feels@home and Hub. Talk to me if you want a build like this.

Client story

One diary-style fitness product instead of fragmented apps

Challenge

Most fitness apps split workouts and nutrition. Di Lorenzo needed one experience with personalized calorie targets, trainer-authored workouts, and a recipe catalog — updatable without constant app-store releases.

Solution

A modular monolith Node.js API serving React Native (Expo) mobile plus React and Angular web clients, with MongoDB Atlas, Stripe, and Expo EAS for reliable iOS/Android releases and OTA updates.

Platform

What My Fit Spot delivers in one product

Customers, trainers, partners, and admins share one API and content model.

Workouts & trainers

Trainer-authored workouts, favourites, in-workout flows, and coach profiles managed from the CMS.

Nutrition & recipes

Meal logging, recipe catalog, ingredient search, and personalized daily/weekly calorie targets.

Subscriptions

Stripe web subscriptions plus Apple/Google in-app purchase paths for Pro content.

Staff dashboards

React admin CMS, client insights, partner blog, and legacy Angular surfaces during migration.

System architecture

Modular monolith API with thin clients

High-level topology

One Express API with domain modules (users, workouts, recipes, payments, blog). React Native, React admin, and Angular dashboards authenticate with JWT against the same REST contracts.

Nutrition summary flow

Home uses a single aggregation endpoint plus stale-while-revalidate caching instead of seven+ round-trips per date change — instant paint with reconciled macros for the day and week.

How the platform was built and shipped

From onboarding calorie engines to EAS store releases — one accountable full-stack path.

One diary-style product for health and fitness — not separate workout and nutrition apps.

Unified fitness + nutrition on iOS and Android, continuous CMS publishing, and a React admin replacing legacy Angular sprawl — without blocking day-to-day releases. I am Muhammad Adil in Sydney — I led Di Lorenzo / My Fit Spot in React Native. I wrote how I build React Native fitness apps in Sydney.

  • Unified product used in production on iOS and Android
  • Trainer/partner CMS without mobile redeploys
  • Client insights for calories, food log, and workout adherence
  • 150+ API endpoints with role-aware guards

Questions

A few direct answers

Clear answers from me in Sydney — the questions I hear most before a build starts.

Talk to me
What is the Di Lorenzo / My Fit Spot case study?

Di Lorenzo / My Fit Spot is a production health and fitness product I led from Sydney as Technical Lead across React Native (Expo), a Node.js API, MongoDB, Stripe and React admin dashboards — roughly five years of mobile, API and CMS work. It unifies workouts, nutrition, recipes and trainer content instead of splitting them across separate apps.

What stack did you ship for Di Lorenzo / My Fit Spot?

React Native with Expo for iOS and Android (including OTA updates), a modular Node.js API (150+ endpoints), MongoDB Atlas, Stripe subscriptions, and a Vite + React admin CMS for trainers and partners. That is the same delivery style I use on React Native app development at https://madil.com.au/services/app-development/ and custom dashboards at https://madil.com.au/services/custom-dashboards/.

Can you build a similar React Native fitness or health app for my Australian business?

Yes. I am Muhammad Adil — one engineer in Sydney, not an agency roster. If you need a diary-style fitness or health product with mobile + API + admin, start with app development https://madil.com.au/services/app-development/ and the React Native fitness notes at https://madil.com.au/blog/react-native-fitness-apps-sydney/. For staff portals and reporting, see custom dashboards https://madil.com.au/services/custom-dashboards/.

How do we start a build like Di Lorenzo?

Tell me the product goal, who the users are (clients vs trainers), and whether you need iOS/Android, an API and an admin CMS. I map scope and stack myself, then ship in stages with written updates — the same way My Fit Spot stayed in production while the admin modernised. Talk to me via https://madil.com.au/contact/ — I usually reply within one business day from Sydney.
